YouTube dislike hide feature coming soon
YouTube has announced it’s experimenting with hiding dislikes to discourage “dislike mobs” from deliberately down voting videos from creators and channels. The experiment is a different implementation than the solutions the company had previously discussed, but it is similar to other attempts platforms like Instagram have taken to nip targeted attacks in the bud.
In the current setup, both likes and dislikes figures are viewable in the manufacturer's personal YouTube studio page, but only the choice will be publicly displayed on the video. In a support article explaining the test, YouTube states that dislike can negatively affect a producer's well-being and "induce a dislike's targeted campaign on a producer's video." Basically, the idea is that looking at a disliked number and looking at it can be enough motivation to join and make the number larger.
